Trend of Globalization through Information Technology
“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don't really even notice it, so it's part of everyday life.”
Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft.
Suppose it is a road that provides a faster flow/transaction of information, and faster transportation. Globalization has completely altered the way in which the world operates. The barriers that once hindered our ability to communicate and interact with people across the world have diminished. Globalization has become ingrained in all fields: business, government, economic, social. In this paper, the role of globalization on society will be discussed and in particular, the impact of globalization on the business environment. Also, over the past few decades’ advancements in information technology have had a profound on the global landscape as well as on the progression of globalization. The argument will be presented, that innovation in information technology has been a major driving force behind globalization and that information technology has now become a key component of a corporation’s global business strategy.
Globalization with the use of information technology makes it easier for us to understand and access foreign cultures, movies, foods, music, & art. Information technology helps different countries to promote their cultural identity. Globalization has also opened our eyes to various cultures, which has increased our understanding of one another.
However, because of how fast globalization spreads & influences other countries with the help of information technology, it has also begun to bring different societies together. Because of the global success of a certain country, other countries began to imitate them. However, when cultures lose their distinguishing characteristics, we lose our global diversity.
As a complex process, globalization is not a new phenomenon, and its impacts on various elements of life, such as economics, social, environmental, and political, have been felt by our globe for many years. Economic globalization includes cross-border movements of commodities and services, international money flows, tariff, and trade barrier reductions, immigration, and the diffusion of technology and knowledge across boundaries, among other things. Advanced technologies cut the cost of transportation and communication between countries, making the global distribution of raw materials and other inputs possible. Patented technology promotes globalization since the company that owns the patent may profit from overseas markets with little competition.
The global village has occurred as a result of information technology. The internet, for example, has lowered the boundaries of time and location in economic transactions. Buyers and sellers may now transact at any time and from any location on the planet. Investments are also affected by technological progress.
In a more globalized market, globalization has grown new markets, and information technology is one of the technologies that has spawned these new markets. Technology has aided us in overcoming key barriers to globalization and international trade, such as trade barriers, a lack of a shared ethical standard, transportation costs, and information transmission delays, resulting in a shift in the marketplace. Technology has allowed software engineers to collaborate with firms all around the world over the internet.
